Dar Al Yemen
About This Spot
Stepping into Dar Al Yemen feels like a gentle pause from the bustling rhythm of South Ozone Park, where the world outside softens and the rich aromas of traditional Yemeni spices welcome you like an old friend. The space, humble and unpretentious, hums with a quiet energy that speaks to shared tables, familiar faces, and meals meant to be savored slowly. It’s a place where the focus stays firmly on the food—the soulful kind that carries stories across distance and time, deeply rooted in heritage yet warmly accessible.
The atmosphere here leans toward thoughtful simplicity. Though the dining room is modest and filled with numerous tables, it never feels cramped or rushed. Instead, there’s a steady, easygoing flow, with the kind of unhurried pace that invites conversation and reflection. Patrons come and go from various walks of life—some dropping in after a long trip back from JFK, others seeking the comfort of flavors that resonate with home. The small space encourages a quiet hum of community, where the clink of cutlery and soft exchanges create a welcoming backdrop.
Culinary artistry at Dar Al Yemen unfolds through dishes that celebrate depth and nuance rather than flash. The lamb, tender and richly spiced, feels handcrafted rather than mass-produced, steeped in tradition and care. Plates arrive laden with fragrant rice, hearty soups, and vibrant salads that tease the senses and invite sharing. Sweet moments linger in carefully prepared desserts where honey, dates, and olive oil come together to complete a meal that feels both honest and deeply satisfying.
Here, the food is an experience of familiar warmth—a true taste of Yemeni heritage translating into each bite. It’s a reminder that dining can be more than just nourishment: it’s connection, memory, and a quiet celebration of culture. If you find yourself craving a meal that offers both comfort and a touch of discovery, Dar Al Yemen opens its doors with genuine simplicity and flavor to share.

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته Alhamdulilah - I was driving back from JFK and found this amazing restaurant. The Lamb Haneeth was the best lamb dish I have ever eaten and the rice was phenomenal. The lamb was perfectly cooked and served in large pieces, that were fork tender. Some flaky salt to garnish the lamb would enhance the flavor. For dessert, I ordered the Arika and it was delicious. Thank you to everyone from the restaurant and I hope to visit again sometime soon! - in sha Allah Allahuma Barik!

Foods are fresh and tasty. You will get true Yemeni flavor. Roasted chicken @ $17 with soup and chatni.

The place is small but has about 6-7 tables. Not sure if I can call it family friendly to dine-in but definitely worth trying the food here. The lamb haneeth was juicy, tender, and delicious. The complimentary salad was also good. Clean restrooms.

The food at Dar Al Yemen is absolutely amazing—flavors are spot on, and the quality is fantastic. I truly enjoyed every bite. However, I did feel that the prices were quite high compared to the portion sizes, which left me a bit disappointed. Overall, if you’re willing to splurge for incredible taste, this place is worth trying!

I’ve ordered takeout from this place a few times, and it’s always been delicious! My favorite dish is the fasolia with eggs and the fattah tammar. I definitely recommend it

I visited this place based on a friend's suggestion, and I have to say, it's a small spot in the middle of Ozone Park, Queens. It had a neat vibe. But I didn't find the food amusing. It could have been better. It's just one time for me. But definitely give it a shot if you're into middle eastern food.

Had a fantastic meal! The ambiance was warm and inviting, and the service was friendly. The *Mandi* was flavorful and tender. Highly recommend for authentic Yemeni cuisine! Can't wait to go back!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Authentic Yemeni Flavors at Dar Al Yemen I recently tried Dar Al Yemen, and it turned out to be one of the better Yemeni dining experiences I’ve had. Lamb Mandi was exceptional—tender, full of flavor, and cooked exactly the way it should be. The grilled fish was another standout: perfectly spiced, beautifully charred, and served over a generous portion of fluffy, fragrant rice that tied the whole dish together. The restaurant itself is small but cozy, clean, and has a nice, laid-back atmosphere. The service was okay—nothing extraordinary, but friendly enough and efficient. Overall, Dar Al Yemen delivers authentic taste and satisfying plates. If you’re craving real Yemeni food, this place is definitely worth a visit. I’d gladly come back again.
